Day 4: Faith Is Not the Problem
Devotional
If you have ever prayed for something and it did not happen, your first instinct might have been to blame yourself. Maybe your faith was not strong enough. Maybe you did not believe hard enough. That kind of thinking can leave you feeling defeated before you even start. Here is something freeing: the issue is rarely the size of your faith. Faith and doubt are not opposites on a scale where one outweighs the other. They pull in completely different directions. When both are present at the same time, they cancel each other out. Nothing moves. Not because your faith was too small, but because doubt was working against it. The answer is not to try harder to believe. It is to deal with the doubt by consistently filling your mind with Scripture. The more your mind is renewed, the less room doubt has to operate. And here is the encouragement: the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is living inside of you right now. That power is not far away. It is not waiting for you to reach some higher level. It is already in you. Keep renewing your mind. Keep speaking truth. Let your thinking catch up to what your Spirit already knows.
Bible Verse
"But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." - Romans 8:11 (New King James Version (NKJV))
Reflection Question
Where in your life has doubt been quietly working against your faith, and what would it look like to address it with Scripture instead of willpower?
Quote
Doubt and faith work in opposite directions and they pull against each other and they neutralize so that in the end, the effect is nothing happens.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, I invite You to work in me today. Where doubt has taken root, uproot it with Your truth, and let the same power that raised Jesus be alive and active in my life. Amen.
